What this means for you, dear users, is that I will be locking down the forum for a short amount of time this week (Wed., Thurs., or Fri.) to update. Hopefully (cross your fingers), ithis will be a short and easy update. Worst to worst, you'll be forumless for a couple hours.
People coming:
Kevin
Anthony
Evan
Steve
Hunter
Matt Clarke
Games we'll play:
Diablo 2
Starcraft
Revenge 2
Xbox 360 games (any that Hunter may bring, if he brings his 360)

Did a few site updates today. Biggest update is the movement of the ad from the right side to the bottom of the pages. Also added it to the forums so that it would get more views. (So check the forums often!)
Also changed the revenge 2 screenshot format so that they'd be thumbnails which you click to see the full size.

As usual, let me know if you find errors.

Just so that everyone is aware - I'm currently working on a new version of the tracker. Not to brag, but its looking pretty fracking good (ok, not visually, but the features are amazing.) It will also eventually integrate with other features on the site, such as adding and editing news posts (a longtime request ;-) ) and sitewide account management. I might even try to integrate our sitewide accounts with the forum. In the extreme long term, this might also turn into a way to do content management. Basically, I'm writing myself out of a job here :-D. Ah well -- gives me time to work on interesting stuff, rather than upkeep.

The toughies are going to be finishing this piece and the content management. Given a sufficiently quiet house and a good supply of sugar, adding/editing news can be completed in a couple of days. Now finding days where I can stay up coding until 4 or so... might be a challenge. Perhaps instead of the next LAN party we should have a hackathon with gaming breaks? IE: I'll work on my stuff, you guys will work on yours, break for games when frustrated? It'll be a riotous good time.

Now, off to figure out how graphing broke itself between the last time I worked on it and now.

So very sorry, I couldn't resist bragging...

(also, I think my IDE is confused. Apparently its not really built to deal with having 3 languages in the same file. HTML + PHP + JavaScript = one confused IDE)

I'm sure we all remember MISoft Studios, run by Matt Rock and seemingly a competitor on TGC forums. Well they don't seem to have weathered their hiatus as well as we did; their last update was in September. Here's their site: http://www.misoftstudios.com/ They seem to have done what we realized a while ago does not work with a small indie team, which to juggle multiple projects at once. Maybe they're just not updating, but who knows. Maybe I should also mention that we should never try to push BioFox as a company, because from reading MISoft's site, it comes across as very arrogant.

Let me just say I am not really making this to rag on them, but to point out that we have a good opportunity to really advertise BioFox on that site. Seeing as that is one of the best gaming communities I know of, and the best place to advertise for DarkBasic games, it's obvious we should target there. This means me making a WIP thread mostly, and us making regular updates so that people really get hooked. I won't make one for awhile because the multiplayer isn't done. The best time to do it will be when we are making the media so that people see the awesome mechanics in a demo then watch as we add all the cool textures and music.

I'm gearing up to get back on track with working on the site. The list of things I wanted to do with the site (which was in my head >.<) is long lost. I've only got a couple things that I remember:

1 New tracker
2 Upgrade email system (include proper logging, link removal/filtering, image filtering (did you know someone can pwn your computer by making you look at an image?))
3 Forum fixes (notably making all the missing images appear)
4 change forums to use same menu code as rest o site (backend change, its really just 2 different files and I need to change 1 reference)
5 Forum retheme/finish theme
6 News posting/editing interface
7 Some sort of content management/easy editing

So, what do you guys want to see?

Whatever the reason, we need to get it together push through at least one more game before the end of the year. Revenge 2 is that project, the perfect way to get back into the groove of things by revisiting our classic game.

To make our transition clear, I'll post what we need to do:

-Clean up the site, including the World Order pages and the game status
-Take Neal off the staff list, since he hasn't had any real contributions
-Post our plans for the new game and our future
-Renew our domain and hosting space (donations will be needed)
-Start working on Revenge 2

Just as a note, our current budget is 25.95 (including cash and project wonderful funds). That's a 8.09 profit over six months or about 1.35 dollars a month.

Nobody asked these questions, but someone may in the future, so I'm giving the answers now. Please post any other questions you have in this thread, thanks.

1. Can I program/model for your games?
Not at the moment, but we can notify you if we need your help if you send us an e-mail or post here on the forum.

2. Can you guys make me a game that...?
No, we do not make games for people's individual needs. If all you need is a small program that does a math equation or something like that, then that's okay.

3. When will you fix that bug in Immortal Guardian that messes up the save files?
We have and you can download version 1.32 on the site now.

4. Is Revenge playable over the internet?
Revenge is built for LAN play only. But, it is possible to play it over the internet with friends by using a virtual LAN program, like Hamachi.

5. What computer languages do you use to program?
DarkBASIC: Immortal Guardian 1 + 2, Revenge, Super Squid Squad, A Pirate's Tale, BioMap, Revenge 2
C++: Super Squid Squad 3
TI-84 BASIC: Games and equation solvers for the calculator.

6. What's BioMap?
It's an engine that we wrote to help us make maps for games like Immortal Guardian and Revenge. It reads text files and creates a map based upon what's written in the text files. You do not need to worry about it if you aren't developing games with DarkBASIC. It is currently on version 1.6. Both Revenge and IG use BioMap v1.5. IG2 uses v1.6.

7. Are all of your games free?
They are all free to download, we don't plan on selling any of them.

8. What is your official website?
http://www.biofoxgames.com

9. What's your e-mail address?
http://biofoxgames.com/email.php
Go there to send your e-mails to us about whatever.

10. How old are you guys?
We're senior boys in high school.

11. What software do you use to make your games?
We use DarkBASIC Professional for developing most of our games. It is a dialect of BASIC that is used primarily for making 3d games. For more information, please visit http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/ .
We have used Microsoft Visual Studio .NET for making Super Squid Squad 3. This allows you to write in C, C++, Visual BASIC, and other languages. Professional game developers use this to make their games.
We develop games for graphing calculators on TI-84 graphing calculators.
For everything else: Microsoft Paint / Photoshop (images), Cartography Shop 4 (maps), Blender (models), Notepad (to make maps for BioMap).

12. Can I join your forums, or is it just for you guys?

17. Can I use your engines to make my game?
Second of all, we are not giving any of our engines away now. There is a possibility that in the future, they will be available, but it won't be anytime soon.
